Message from DG Michelle Sink

I hope you’re enjoying the fall season and finding meaningful ways to create lasting impact in your communities!

November: The Rotary Foundation

November is a great time to celebrate and support the financial and programmatic engine of Rotary—and to recognize World Interact Week. Consider inviting one of our fantastic Foundation team members to speak at a club meeting. You could also share a Rotary Foundation success story or learn more about applying for a grant.

It’s also a great time to connect with your local Interact club. Invite them to join your club meeting or a service project—or, even better, have your club visit one of their meetings!

District Conference Highlights

A big thank-you to everyone who joined us at our joint District Conference, and a special shout-out to our wonderful panelists and presenters! Here are a few highlights:

  • More than 50 Rotarians took to the Linear Trail for the World’s Largest Polio Walk, raising awareness for polio.
  • We shared real-time photos from 11 District 5710 Rotarians in India, where they were helping administer polio vaccine drops.
  • John McElligott gave a fascinating talk about how history might have changed if leaders had been able to use Rotary to guide their decisions—and how AI might look different if it were built around the Four-Way Test.
  • We assembled 150 “Hope Boxes" for Ascension Via Christi’s ER, Pawnee Mental Health, and Manhattan High School. Filled with positive items and reading materials, the boxes will support patients and students facing depression or suicidal thoughts.
  • We enjoyed engaging breakout sessions and wrapped up with a fun auction and Halloween costume contest. Congratulations to Memory Buffington and Gloria Homeier, who dressed as me and District 5680 Governor Isaac McNary!

The “Hope Boxes" are available at no charge for clubs to assemble and distribute in your community as a service project. For more information, click this link: https://shop.suspenders4hope.com/resources/qr1a/

As the holiday season approaches, I hope you find time to celebrate, connect, and enjoy meaningful moments with your fellow Rotarians and family.

Yours in Rotary Servcie,
Michelle Sink
