TAMARA SEVCIK

DISTRICT GOVERNOR ELECT

Tamara Jo Sevcik began her Rotary service in September 2010 when she joined the Rotary Club of Leavenworth.  She served as President, 2017-2018; and First Vice President 2016-2017; Second Vice President, 2015-2016; and the President, Rotary Club of Leavenworth Foundation, 2019-2022.  She continues to serve as the Public Image Chair and chairs several committees within the club such as the Over-the-Counter Medicine Drive, the Organization for International Spouses and Sponsors, Scholarships, Educator of the Year and is the site administrator for ClubRunner; she also serves on the club’s fund-raising committee and on the Meals on Wheels delivery team.  At the district level, Tamara served as an Assistant Governor and recently stepped up to serve as the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Assistant Chair.
 
Tamara graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Business Management; she minored in History & Psychology.   Tamara has over 35 years of federal service, working in many different states and in Germany; she completed her civil service career with the United States Army at the end of January 2018.  After working 24 years in various positions in the administrative field while following her military spouse to several military installations, she was assigned to United States Army Force Management Support Agency at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, in 2006.  Tamara was selected for an internship and over the next several years was promoted to the grade of GS-13 Senior (Lead) Management Analyst in the Army Civilian Corps.  She completed the Army’s basic- and intermediate-level civilian education courses.
 
In addition, Tamara serves with the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 411 (currently Treasurer), the Organization for International Spouses & Sponsors (currently President), the Choir Director at High Prairie Church, and is a former member of the United Way Board of Leavenworth County where she served as the Co-Campaign Chair.
 
Tamara has lived in the Leavenworth area since 2005, was born in Granite City, Illinois, and lived in several states and Germany while traveling with her military family and spouse, Colonel (Retired) Michael C. Sevcik.  She and Mike have two children:  Matthew, who works for the USDA in cyber security and serves as an Army Captain in the Kansas National Guard.  Matthew is married to Katherine (Young); together with their sons Michael Allen & Adam Kenneth, they reside in Olathe.  Daughter, Molly Jo (Sevcik) Phillips, serves as a Captain on Active Duty in the United States Army JAG Corps; Molly has a son (John Killian Barricks) and a daughter (Violet Tennessee Jude); they reside on Fort Riley (Kansas).
 
Tamara delights in playing Nana to grandsons, Michael, Adam, John, and granddaughter, Violet.  She loves being a Rotarian & everything Rotary stands for and tries to ensure everyone in her club enjoys Rotary as much as she does.
