Rotary Peace Fellow – 2025-2026

 

Hailing from Liberty, Missouri, Karla Jordan completed the inaugural Middle East and North Africa (MENA) cohort of the Rotary Peace Fellowship, celebrating graduation during a capstone seminar held in February 2026 at Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul. Karla's social change initiative supported an Iraqi peacebuilding organization with training, coaching, and planning to strengthen theoretical foundations of peacebuilding, analyze the local community, and envision greater grassroots impact.


The fellow was part of Cohort One at the university’s MENA peace center, joining other cohorts for the seminar and graduation events. The Rotary Peace Fellowship, a program of Rotary International, prepares leaders to address conflict, strengthen communities, and advance sustainable peace worldwide.


Supported throughout the journey by Rotary District 5710, Rotary District 6040, the Rotary Club of Liberty and Rotarians abroad, the newly graduated fellow is currently based in Northern Iraq where she is working to start an organization focused on dialogic experiences, community-based development, and grassroots peacebuilding.


Karla plans to visit to the Kansas City metro area in August 2026. She hopes to visit area clubs to share insights on global peacebuilding efforts and the challenges facing the Middle East.
